I
have been interested in spinning and weaving since I was
a child.
In
my early twenties I moved to Virginia, USA, and there
I began an apprenticeship with a well known local artist,
Nancy Slye. She allowed me to become involved in all aspects
of the craft – from weaving intricate, colourful
garments, to caring for the sheep, llamas and goats on
her farm.
I
returned to England in 2002, and have continued my craft
here, slowly building up local sources of quality fibre,
and experimenting with colour and texture.
Although
I have been spinning and weaving for nearly ten years,
I exhibited my work for the first time in May 2006 as
part of Dorset Arts Week.
I
hope to have my work for sale in local boutiques and art
galleries by the end of the year, and am always available
for commission pieces.
